About VVSAbout Vessel Value Survey
Vessel Value Survey brings decades of yacht-market knowledge and hands-on marine engineering together in a single assessment, so owners, lenders, insurers and attorneys can act with confidence.
The team
VVS was built by two professionals who spent their careers on and around yachts: one studying what vessels sell for, the other inspecting how they are built, maintained and repaired.
Jason Dunbar’s background as a yacht captain, sailing instructor and yacht broker gives him an unusually deep record of real sale prices. Mark Geddis, an Accredited Marine Surveyor and former Royal Navy engineer, brings the technical eye. Paul Hite adds practical shipyard, rigging and damage-assessment experience. Together, they see the whole vessel: its condition, its market and what both mean for your decision.

Our story in 71 seconds
“I’ve been a yacht broker for over 30 years collecting data on what yachts sell for.”Jason Dunbar, Co-owner
Who
Co-owners Jason Dunbar and Mark Geddis, with specialists in damage assessment, rigging, hydraulics and shipyard refit costs.
What
Condition and value surveys, certified appraisals and expert-witness support, from fair market value to forced liquidation and after-repair values.
Where
Offices in Fort Lauderdale and Newport, working wherever the vessel is: in the water, on the hard or in the yard.
When
Before a purchase or refinance, after a loss or a repair, for a donation or import, and whenever value is disputed.
How
Every report combines market trends and comparable sales with a close analysis of the vessel’s actual condition.
Why
Because a number without context isn’t an answer. Our clients need to understand the value, and to defend it.
Mission
Our mission is to give owners and the professionals who advise them a clear, well-supported understanding of a vessel’s condition and value, explained in plain language and built to stand up to scrutiny.
Vision
We want every lender, insurer, attorney and owner who works with VVS to make their next decision with complete confidence in the facts behind it.
Independent
We report what the vessel and the market show us, whoever commissioned the work.
Evidence-led
Comparable sales, market trends and documented condition, with assumptions stated clearly.
Personal
No call centers or hand-offs. The person who inspects the vessel explains the findings.
